MARC HETTI

So I have a new friend. He’s a pretty cool dude – here’s some random facts about him: He lives in Maryland, drives a Corvette, has an obsession with kissing, and did his first beer bong last Saturday. Ok, enough details. The miscommunication that occurred when I first met him was pretty funny, so I’ll share.

Background: He’s a mutual friend of a lot of my friends, so I met him through them…and one in particular, Amanda, who’s he dating. [Virtual Shout-out to Amanda Glazebrook here.] Pay attention, he was introduced to me as Mark Hetti. So he was hanging around more and more and people always called him Mark Hetti but sometimes I’d get confused, cause certain people would call him Michael. I always just blew it off as if it was an inside joke that I wasn’t in the loop about. I was positive his first name was Mark so I always called him Mark….followed by what I was confident his last name was, Hetti. And I wanted to be cool like everyone else who refers to ALL their friends by their first and last name [cough…Amanda Glazebrook…cough…] Ok well not really, but Mark Hetti was a cool name to say – it just rolls right off the tongue.

Anyways!

Then things started getting inconsistent. Like the same people who called him Marc Hetti started switching things up and called him Michael a lot too. So when all my friends were hanging out one day, I finally asked him, “Why do people call you Michael?” And everyone just kinda stopped and laughed, and he replied, “Um…cause that’s my name.” and I said, “No it’s not, your name’s Mark.” And he goes, “No its not, it’s Michael.” “What? Then why does everyone call you Mark Hetti?” And he laughs and says, “That’s my last name.” I was so confused. “My name is Michael Marchetti.”

It was so funny…all that time I had been thinking his full name was Marc Hetti when really his name was Michael Marcetti. That was right after I died my hair blonde, so obviously it sunk in to the point where all abilities on my part to distinguish people by their correct names were lost. I felt like an idiot!

…but I still call him Marc.

That's right, my name ROLLS off the tongue cause that's how I roll! Also, for clarification, when I trick people with my name, I like to spell it "Mark Eddy" cause people with 2 first names are weird. Hmmmm Amy Dale. hmmmm. Wierd OR cool I guess.
